Happy April, San Diego! Enjoy the sunshine this weekend by watching the rowing competition at the Crew Classic, painting by the sea on the shores of the Hotel Del, or hanging out at Petco Park with the family for FanFest. As always, but be sure to check ticket availability prior to attending any San Diego weekend events. 

VinDiego Food & Wine Festival

When: Friday Apr 1 – Saturday Apr 2
Where: NTC Liberty Station; 2875 Dewey Road, San Diego 92106
What: Wine lovers, rejoice! Come to sip, swirl and savor a selection of more than 300 handcrafted wines from some of the best wineries. Passionate winemakers and winery representatives will be on hand, offering practical knowledge and sharing information about their wines. There will also be a number of local restaurants sampling dishes and a steady stream of live entertainment to keep the fun.

Padres FanFest

When: Friday Apr 1 – Saturday Apr 2
Where: Petco Park
What: This weekend is the first opportunity for fans to experience this season’s ballpark updates, including the LED ballpark lighting and the new bi-level group and social space in right field. There will be two exhibition games against the Chicago White Sox (GA tickets are $10 and free for Padres Season Ticket holders) and tons of FanFest activities, which are free. The activities will all be located in Park at the Park.

San Diego Crew Classic

When: Saturday Apr 2 – Sunday Apr 3
Where: Mission Bay; Corona Oriente Rd., San Diego
What: As the first major regatta of the year, the Crew Classic brings together thousands of rowers from more than 100 universities, clubs and high school programs from across the US. The Crew Classic is the highlight of many competitive rowing careers and a competition for future Olympians, and is one of the most exciting sports to watch live. Rowers will compete in over 100 races in various divisions.

Painting by the Sea

When: Saturday Apr 2, 3pm-4:30pm
Where: Hotel Del Coronado; 1500 Orange Ave, Coronado 92118
What: Inspire your inner artist and experience Painting by the Sea! This unique coastal painting experience features you with an easel and a palette of paint colors in front of the ocean. Relax as a professional master-level artist guides you in creating your masterpiece while you sip wine and enjoy beautiful music.

Chocolate Festival

When: Sunday Apr 3, 11am-4pm
Where: San Diego Maritime Museum; 1492 N Harbor Dr, San Diego
What: A must-do for all chocolate lovers! Head to the Maritime Museum to enjoy tons of chocolate samplings, cooking demonstrations and chocolate creation demos, kitchen tricks with chocolate, beer and wine pairings, and even chocolate pizzas for the kids. For the history buffs, Mars Chocolate History Ambassadors will be onsite to demonstrate the historical bean-to-beverage story of 18th-century chocolate.
