FRIDAY APRIL 11TH
Ray at Night ArtWalk
6pm – 9pm. Ray Street, North Park
Ray at Night Artwalk is a gathering of local and national artists, art galleries, and other art-related ventures that has become the biggest monthly artwalk in San Diego. The event is FREE, and is a chance to see some up-and-coming artists and cutting-edge art on an evening out in San Diego. The festival in total is made up of over 25 galleries and art venues, and is definitely a must-see for any art lovers. Free parking is available nearby, or for $3 at a nearby structure on 30th Street. Don’t miss out!
Art Alive 2014: Bloom Bash
San Diego Museum of Art, 7pm
See the Museum in full bloom during Bloom Bash, the NEW Opening Celebration for Art Alive! Enjoy delicious fare from San Diego’s top restaurants, caterers & dessertiers; floral-infused cocktails by the Patron Spirits Company; fresh tapped beer and tastings by The Lost Abbey; live music and dancing; activities and festive performances, and more than 120 floral interpretations of the Museum’s finest works of art. SATURDAY APRIL 12TH
Salk Institute’s Step into Discovery
Salk Institute: 10010 North Torrey Pines Road
Step into discovery! Join Salk Institute for Walk for Salk 5k, 9am-12pm, a benefit walk to support research for cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, healthy aging, diabetes, obesity, and plant biology. Then check out Explore Salk, a free community open house featuring lab and architectural tours, science talks, and a health and wellness festival! The lab tours begin at 11am; various talks exploring different sciences and cures will be happening throughout the day. Visit www.salk.edu for more information.
Bite San Diego – La Jolla Edition
1-4 pm, Downtown La Jolla
Food tasting walking tour begins in the center of La Jolla. Participants enjoy scrumptious bites and samples from Karl Strauss, Extreme Pizza, Brick and Bell, Krafty Krepes, We Olive, Ohana’s Cafe, and Nosh Deli. SUNDAY APRIL 13TH
Brunch with the Birds
11am – 2pm at Free Flight, An Exotic Bird Sanctuary
2132 Jimmy Durante Blvd.
Support the parrots in the Free Flight Exotic Bird Sanctuary! This year will be Free Flight’s third annual spring fundraiser and membership drive. Enjoy a light brunch buffet (danishes, bagels, donuts, fruit, and beverages) alongside the beautiful birds at the sanctuary. Learn about all the ways Free Flight benefits the community and engages the public with exotic birds! All the profit goes directly to the care of the birds. Entrance is $10 for adults and $5 for children under 13.
La Jolla Concours D’Elegance 10th Annual Show
9am – 4 pm at Ellen Browning Scripps Park
We can’t leave out this iconic event! The Concours is a luxurious event that showcases various types of fine automobile gems. This year, the theme is “Celebrating European Race History” and will feature some of the world’s most exquisite automobile displays with standouts such as Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, and Rolls-Royce. Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door.
