The world famous San Diego County Fair returns to the Del Mar Fairgrounds this summer. In Celebration of the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first visit to the United States, the theme this year is, “The Fab Fair”. With fairground gates opening on June 7th, now is the perfect time to take a look at the lineup for the 2014 Toyota Summer Concert Series. The concerts take place at the Heineken Grandstand stage and showcase world renowned and unique artists every year. Here is a brief glance at some of the highlight performers this year:
Third Eye Blind
Since forming in the early 1990’s, Third Eye Blind has sold over 12 million records worldwide. Known for their top hits, including “Jumper” and “Semi-Charmed Life”, this alternative rock band has garnered worldwide success.
Hunter Hayes became the youngest male act to ever top the Billboard Hot Country Songs when his hit single, “Wanted”, sold over 3.5 million copies. In addition, his self-titled debut album went on to sell over 1.1 million copies in 2011. Hayes released his second studio album, Storyline, in early May and has been nominated for 4 Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.
Smokey Robinson is known worldwide for his classic R&B songs and as the lead singer of the Motown vocal group, The Miracles. Robinson retired in 1972 from the musical stage, but returned to the music industry as a solo artist the following year. His top 10 hits include, “Cruisin”, “Being With You”, and “Just to See Her”.
Toni Braxton is known for her work as an R&B singer-songwriter, pianist, musician, record producer, actress, television personality, and philanthropist. Six time Grammy Award winner, Braxton has sold over 66 million records worldwide and has quickly established herself as an R&B icon.
Matthew Miller, known more commonly by his hebrew and stage name Matisyahu, is an acclaimed reggae rapper and alternative rock musician. Blending Orthodox Jewish themes with reggae and beatboxing sounds, his unique style has become recognizable worldwide. Matisyahu’s hits include “Kind Without a Crown” and “One Day”.
