San Diego and La Jolla Weekend Events: March 23rd & 24th

It’s the first week of spring, and this weekend is packed with events. So what are you waiting for? Make your plans now! There’s something for everyone!


Saturday, March 23rd: 

Kids Day at The Flower Fields
9 a.m. to 5 p.m., The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch
This Saturday will be “Kids Day” at The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch. The special family-friendly day includes a drum circle, bubbles, face painting, balloon art, exhibits, and a musical petting zoo- you read correctly. Bring the kiddos (and your inner kiddo), and come enjoy! It runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Activities are included with paid admission to the Flower Fields.

1,000 Lights Water Lantern Festival
4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Santee Lakes
1,000 Lights is this weekend, and you won’t want to miss out on this well-known water lantern festival. It takes place in various cities across the nation, but you’ll likely want to head Santee Lakes this Saturday. The event will be packed full with live entertainment, games, food trucks, and of course the beautiful lit up lanterns. A $25 adult ticket includes the lantern and decorating kit, and access to all of the live entertainment. Tickets for kids age 10 to 13 cost $13; kids age 9 and under get in free.

Sunday, March 24th:

Gaslamp Artisan Market
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fifth Avenue
Go check out the new Gaslamp Quarter’s Fifth Avenue between Market Street and Island Avenue and let us know what you think! Pop through different restaurants and shops, and explore the new exciting area!

Guided Nature Walk
9:30 a.m., Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend to get outside! Take a free guided 1.5 hour nature walk from Mission Trails Regional Park. Along the way you’ll learn about animals, plants, and history of this park in San Diego.
