San Diego and La Jolla Weekend Events: July 27th & 28th

The weather is perfect, this first weekend of summer is packed with events. So what are you waiting for? Make your plans now! There’s something for everyone!


Saturday, July 26th: 

Summer Movies in the Park
6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m., Locations Vary
San Diego’s ongoing, free event, “Summer Movies in the Park,” will offer nearly a half-dozen outdoor movie screenings this Saturday at parks across the county. For instance, families can catch “Mary Poppins” at Hourglass Field Community Park in Mira Mesa, or “Ralph Breaks the Internet” at Horton Plaza Park in downtown San Diego. Most screening events on this date start at 6 p.m. with free activities, and the movies begin at dusk. Bring chairs, a blanket and a picnic and make a whole night of it.

Midland
After the Last Race, Del Mar Racetrack
Country crooners Midland bring their talents to the Seaside Stage at the Del Mar Racetrack Saturday night, performing after the final horse race of the day. The 18+ concert is free with paid admission to the track ($6 for Stretch Run); if you arrive after the last race for the show only, tickets cost $30.

Sunday, July 7th:

Gaslamp Artisan Market
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fifth Avenue

Guided Nature Walk
9:30 a.m., Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend to get outside! Take a free guided 1.5 hour nature walk from Mission Trails Regional Park. Along the way you’ll learn about animals, plants, and history of this park in San Diego.
