Saturday, Dec. 7th
December Nights: Day 2
12 p.m. to 11 p.m., Balboa Park
The second – and busiest – round of December Nights fills Balboa Park Saturday with music, food, entertainment, light displays, and just all-around merriment. The event is free; it’s expected to draw more 350,000 visitors, so be prepared for crowds.
Little Italy Tree Lighting & Christmas Village
4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Piazza della Famiglia
Little Italy celebrates the holidays with its very own 21st annual Tree Lighting and Christmas Village celebration. The tree lighting ceremony goes down at Piazza della Famiglia in the heart of Little Italy; the rest of the free, festive event includes live music, horse-drawn carriage rides, holiday treats and a visit from Santa. And, if you stroll down India Street, you’ll see sparkling lights everywhere, plus 10-foot-tall nutcrackers and other seasonal décor.
Sunday, Dec. 8th
Breakfast With Santa
9 a.m. to 12 p.m., Hilton San Diego Bayfront
Enjoy breakfast with the man himself – Santa Claus – as well as a stellar view at this Holiday By the Bay event at the Hilton Bayfront. The full breakfast buffet costs $31.99; kids age 5 and under are free.
