San Diego and La Jolla Weekend Events: 6/29 & 6/30

The weather is perfect, this first weekend of summer is packed with events. So what are you waiting for? Make your plans now! There’s something for everyone!


Saturday, June 29th:

Bluegrass Day at the Fair
11 a.m., Ballast Point Paddock Stage at the San Diego County Fair
Bluegrass gets a chance to shine Saturday during Bluegrass Day at the San Diego County Fair. Six bands will take over the Ballast Point Paddock Stage throughout the day, including authentic old-time fiddlers. The event is presented by two local nonprofits: the San Diego Bluegrass Society and North County Bluegrass and Folk Club, with support from the fair. It’s included in the fair admission.

The Winehouse Experience w/Tori Roze & The Hot Mess
9 p.m., The Music Box
This tribute to late singer Amy Winehouse – complete with a full backing band, big hair and even bigger vocals – takes the stage at The Music Box in Little Italy. Standing room general admission costs $20, seats cost $42, or you could make a night of it with a dinner package for two for $90, which includes dinner at Indigo Grill on India Street before the show.

Sunday, June 30th:

Gaslamp Artisan Market
10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Fifth Avenue

Guided Nature Walk
9:30 a.m., Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center
It’s going to be a beautiful weekend to get outside! Take a free guided 1.5 hour nature walk from Mission Trails Regional Park. Along the way you’ll learn about animals, plants, and history of this park in San Diego.
