San Diego 4th of July Fireworks & Events 2013


Celebrating the 4th of July in San Diego is a timeless tradition for so many residents. Whether you and your family go to the beach, barbeque in the backyard, or watch fireworks, everybody has a patriotic tradition. With warm sunshine, perfect beaches, and great food, there are so many places to celebrate in San Diego.


4th of July Celebration aboard the USS Midway
Climb aboard the famed USS Midway on Fourth of July for a fun evening with the family. Enjoy family activities, shop, and listen to live entertainment. N.R.G. “Energy” will be performing before the Big Bay Fireworks show.

San Diego County Fair
July 4th will be the last day of the fair this year so come out to enjoy a fun day full of rides, fried food, and live music. Located at the main grandstand, there will be a hometown heroes parade starting at 7:00pm, a salute to 9/11 heroes, and a firework show to wrap things up. Fair rides and festivities will continue until midnight.

4th of July Parade in Old Town
The annual Old Town 4th of July Parade will begin at 11:30am. Enjoy a patriotic day with a parade, crafts, and activities of early San Diego. Wagon rides, games, special food, music, and a pie-eating contest are only a handful of the activities going to be happening.

Rancho Santa Fe’s Independence Day Concert on the Green
Bring blankets and chairs for a patriotic concert performed by the Coastal Communities Concert Band to celebrate the 4th. Dress in your patriotic red, white, and blue colors for a fun family day and celebration.

4th of July Celebration in Coronado
A classic tradition for the island community, celebrate the 4th with a parade on Orange avenue at 10:00am, community organized festivities around the island, and stick around for the fireworks over the bay at 9:00pm. With an unblocked view of the bay from almost anywhere on the island, Coronado is perfect to take the family to for the 4th!

Birdrock 4th of July Parade
For a community spirited celebration, check out Birdrocks annual 4th of July celebration. The parade will begin at 10:00am along the north side of Beaumont avenue. Everybody is welcome to walk in the parade dressed in red, white, and blue. Bring your bikes, skateboards, and pets to join in the parade. The parade will end in the square behind the Methodist Church for an afternoon full of music, food, games, bounce hosues, crafts, and socializing.

The 4th of July would not be complete without watching a bright firework display at the end of the day. Dozens of locations throughout the county host dazzling displays, many of them easily accessible and convenient to watch.

La Jolla Cove Fireworks
July 4th- 9:00pm
The La Jolla Cove Fireworks are a great way to end the night with a loud bang! Overlooking the world famous La Jolla Cove, bring the whole family and blankets to watch from Ellen Browning Scripps park. You can also easily watch from nearby La Jolla Shores and Kellog Park.

San Diego Bay-Big Bay Boom
July 4th- 9:00pm
The 13th annual Big Bay Boom will begin at 9:00pm above the San Diego bay. The show is the largest annual event on the west coast with over 500,000 spectators. For about 18 minutes, 4 large barges located strategically throughout the bay will both dazzle and entertain everybody from little children to adults.

Sea World San Diego
July 4th-July 6th 9:30pm
Set to Patriotic music, “Into the Blue”, will be Sea World San Diegos extended fireworks show for the 4th of July. For 3 days you will be able to see the show every night at 9:30pm from either in the park, or anywhere around the mission bay area.

George’s at the Cove
George’s Terrace and George’s Bar offer some of the best views of the La Jolla Cove Fireworks show. Come relax for a delicious meal and flavorful drinks before watching the show.

The Marine Room
In celebration for the month of July, the Marine Room is offering a three-course menu featuring Maryland Soft Shell Crab Cake, Herbes de Provence Ahi Tuna, Country Meadow Lamb Cotelette and Loin. Take in the views of the La Jolla Cove Fireworks show through the Marine Room’s immense windows above the pacific ocean.

The Shores Restaurant
On July 4th from 5:00pm-10:00pm, the Shores Restaurant is celebrating the holiday with a three-course menu highlighted with Brandt Beef Short Ribs, Local Swordfish and Maine Lobster Tail. Watch fireworks after dinner at 9:00pm either from the restaurant or from the La Jolla Shores beach.
