Owner Molly Cygan Rossettie is a southern California native. She grew up in Orange County then moved to New York and ended up in Philadelphia where she owned her first gift shop. After being a little homesick, the timing was just right when her husband gained his first year residency at UC San Diego. She packed up her things, moved across the country and now calls La Jolla home.
Molly was an art history major in college and explained why she opened her first store, “It taps into my creative side and also my organizational side. It sort of fulfills different parts of my life.” After she decided to make the move to San Diego, she was wondering about a store name and turned to her parents and cellphone for inspiration. “I was deleting messages from my phone and it was my mom saying ‘oh hi sweetheart.’ After every few seconds it was another message saying ‘hi sweetheart,'” said Molly. Then the name of her store just clicked and said, “It’s like paying homage to her parents.”
