The term “American beer” is no longer a derogatory write-off term for generic libations like Coors, Budweiser, and Bud Light (though who doesn’t love an ice cold Natty Ice every once in a while?) With more than 2,000 different breweries spread throughout the country and San Diego holding tight to the coveted “Craft Beer Capital of America” title, it’s safe to say the US is holding its own in the beer sphere; creative, unique, and high quality beer is becoming a staple in American culture.
Did you know that we’ve even invented our own styles of beer? Varieties that were created in the United States include American pale ale, Pennsylvania porter, American IPA, steam beer, amber ale, cream ale and Cascadian dark ale. The most common style of beer produced by the big breweries is American lager.
