Mary’s English Kitchen offers breakfast, brunch, lunch and afternoon tea items. The menu includes croissants, omelets, sandwiches and more. After a long day, wind down with afternoon tea. Choose from freshly prepared finger sandwiches, warm scones with clotted cream and preserves and a variety of homemade cakes and pastries. Tea choices include Assam Tea, Darjeeling Black Tea, Lapsang Souchong, Earl Grey and more. Afternoon Tea was introduced in Britain in the early 1840s and served as a mini meal. Today in England, people occassionaly indulge in Afternoon Tea or to celebrate a special event such as a birthday, bridal shower or baby shower.
Recipes are inspired by Mary Brown who was born on Christmas Eve in 1935 in Exmouth, England. Neighbors and friends would crowd around her kitchen table to have a taste of her wonderful baked goods. There was no better place to have tea and a cake than Mary’s kitchen. Her recipes have traveled across the Atlantic Ocean to be shared with La Jolla and the rest of the world.
Mary’s English Kitchen will launch a grand opening in three weeks. La Jolla Blue Book will have all of the details so stay tuned! Mary’s English Kitchen will be open everyday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, visit marysenglishkitchen.com.
