Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. 5K Run/1 Mile Walk

FRIDAY JAN. 17

YMCA of San Diego County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Dignity Award Breakfast
YMCA of San Diego County will host the 29th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Dignity Award Breakfast. The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Human Dignity Award will be given to someone who demonstrates the work and character of Dr. King. Tickets are $40. The award breakfast will start at 6 a.m. at Town County Resort, 500 Hotel Circle North, 92108.

SATURDAY JAN. 18

Sheila R. Hardin Multicultural Festival
Kids of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy live musical performances, dancers, children’s activities, story tellers, vendors and more. 16th Annual Sheila R. Hardin Multi-Cultural Festival will kick off at 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Promenade on Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego, across from the Convention Center.

SUNDAY JAN. 19

UC San Diego Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service & Parade

Volunteers will head down to Bayside Elementary School in Imperial Beach for a day of community service then will march in the MLK Jr. Parade downtown. This UC San Diego campus tradition is free starting at 7 a.m. For more info visit mlkday.ucsd.edu.

Martin Luther King Day Parade
The 33nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade will stroll through the streets of downtown San Diego featuring floats, high school bands, drill teams, colleges, church groups and more. The parade is hosted by the Zeta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, the oldest Black fraternity in America. Parade will kick off at 2 p.m. at the Embarcadero on Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir Performance
Non-profit organization, Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Choir San Diego will perform at 4:30 p.m. at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 3502 Clairemont Drive, 92117.

MONDAY JAN. 20

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Interfaith Day of Service
This event will bring together various faith groups and cultural backgrounds to help beautify Balboa Park. Interfaith Day of Service will meet at 9 a.m. at Morley Field 2221 Morley Field Dr, 92104.

All People’s Celebration
Alliance San Diego will host the 26th Annual All People’s Celebration honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event is a seated brunch with Emmy and Peabody winning journalist and renowned author Alison Stewart as the keynote presenter. Tickets are $50 online. The event will be at 10 a.m. at San Diego Pubic Market, Barrio Logan, 1735 National Ave, San Diego, 92113.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day at WorldBeat Center
This free family event will host a variety of live musical performances featuring Earl Zero, Juan Sanchez and Afro-Cuban Drummers, WorldBeat African Drummers and Dancers. Vendors will be available.
