It’s beginning to look a lot like the holidays in La Jolla! We are entering into the holiday season, and the festivities are officially beginning. Here are some festivities to enjoy for the end of November.
71st Annual Mother Goose Parade | Tuesday Nov 21
The largest parade in all of San Diego County is also the largest of its type west of the Mississippi. Each year, the Mother Goose Parade charms thousands of spectators and appeals to them to take to the streets of El Cajon. In excess of 100 colorful and exhilarating parade entries come from across the United States to share in the enthusiasm that is the Mother Goose Parade. Entries include impressive motorized floats, marching bands and drill units, equestrians, lively clowns sure not to frighten, distinctive characters, various performing artists, enormous helium balloons, and of course, the heavily favored kid favorite, Santa Claus. Surfin Santa Arrival | Saturday November 25
Are you ready for the Christmas season to begin? As we’re all aware, it kicks off the day after Thanksgiving and this year is no different, as Santa to busts out his board shorts and fave Hawaiian shirt to journey in from San Diego Bay on a seaplane for the 10th annual Surfin’ Santa celebration at Seaport Village. Beginning at 1 p.m. and continuing until 5 p.m., people can pose for pics with jolly ‘ol Santa on his huge surfboard, riding a six-foot swell. Rounding out the festive activities are a parade along the boardwalk, crafting activities for the tykes, live street performers, and a wide assortment of unique, local shops to keep guests busy during the exciting event. 38th San Diego Jazz Fest & Swing X
Shrewd jazz aficionados refer to the San Diego Jazz Festival as “the crown jewel of jazz festivals.” The event is organized during the Thanksgiving weekend at the Town & Country Resort and Convention Center, in San Diego. The SD Jazz Fest is a beloved happening among festival-goers from around the world. For your convenience, each and every venue is located within the Town & Country Convention Center. There are huge concert rooms with double dance floors, as well as small, relaxed and intimate “listening” rooms. Kindly observe that all such rooms are strictly non-smoking. The festival bands are comprised of everything from traditional jazz, Dixieland, ragtime, swing, and rockabilly styles.
