La Jolla Weekend Events May 2-4

Another warm and beautiful weekend is coming up here in La Jolla, and we’ve compiled a list of some of the best events happening in and around San Diego! Get our your sunglasses and suntan lotion and gear up for some awesome activities. Check them out below and tell us what you think!

1. Taste of the Triangle

What: The 20th Annual Taste of the Triangle 2014 will be an evening of fun, food and fundraising for University City public schools. This is the 20th anniversary of Taste of the Triangle and it will be better than ever this year. Enjoy food from over 20 restaurants (including places like Leucadia Pizzeria, Cozymel’s, Prepkitchen, Whisknladle, and The Melting Pot), over 100 silent auction baskets, dancing and more than 4 hours of live entertainment! All event proceeds go to UC public schools.

Where: UCSD Faculty Club at 9500 Gilman Drive, La Jolla

When: Friday, May 2: 7pm – 10:30pm

2. Del Mar Antique Show & Sale

La Jolla Weekend EventsWhat: Check out thousands of antiques, vintage collectibles and decorator items! More than 250 premier antique dealers from all over the United States will be selling the finest in antiques including all types of glass, pottery, crystal, jewelry, art, silver, paper ephemera, Americana, primitives, American & European furniture and more. Cost of entry is $8.

Where: O’Brien Pavilion at The Del Mar Fairgrounds. 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd, Del Mar

When: Friday, May 2 & Saturday, May 3:11am to 7pm; Sunday, May 4: 11am to 5pm.

3. Old Town’s Fiesta for Cinco de Mayo

What: The 31st annual Fiesta Old Town Cinco de Mayo, a San Diego tradition since 1983! Check out the largest celebration for the Mexican holiday in Southern California – 3 days of music, food and fun, including three live music stages, two Cantina Beer Gardens, and a soccer competition. And don’t forget the tequila sampling area! The event is great for all ages and includes a children’s play area as well.

Where: Old Town San Diego State Historic Park

When: Saturday, May 3:11:00am – 10:00pm; Sunday, May 4: 11:00am to 6:00pm

4. California Bookstore Day

La Jolla Weekend Events What: California Bookstore Day is a statewide party! Warwick’s in La Jolla is one of the independent bookstores celebrating the day in La Jolla; presenting author will be Brian Selznick, Caldecott-award winning author of The Invention of Hugo Cabret. There will also be a few other Limited Edition goodies.

Where: Warwick’s Books, 7812 Girard Avenue.

When: Saturday, May 3: 9am-6pm

5. JLSD Food and Wine Festival

La Jolla Weekend Events What: The ultimate outdoor dining experience, featuring exquisite bites, flavorful wines, top craft and micro brews, and exotic cocktails tastings from more than 50 of San Diego’s best restaurants. General admission tickets are $85 and provide access to unlimited food and wine tastings, the silent auction, entertainment, and more. Visit jlsdfoodandwine.com for more info and tickets.

When: Saturday May 3: 1pm-5pm.

6. San Diego’s 6th Annual Breath of Hope Walk

Breath-of-Hope-GroupWhat: The San Diego Breath of Hope Walk is a great event for the whole family. Join UCSD Moores Cancer Center to support people living with, or who are at risk of developing, lung cancer. Celebrate the lives of survivors and honors those whom lung cancer has taken from us.

Adult registration is $40, youth is $25.

Where: Cancer Survivors Park on Harbor Island. 4100 North Harbor Drive, San Diego

When: Sunday May 4. Registration is at 7:30am; Walk starts at 9am.
