Hands-On Friday Night Dinner Party Cooking Class
Learn how to make a delicious meal for your next party! Tonight’s class recipes include macadamia- and sesame seed-crusted Brie with hot pepper jelly and sesame toasts, pan-roasted Miso-glazed top sirloin, Wasabi mashed potatoes, asparagus, and coconut Panna Cotta with mango syrup and fresh strawberries! Art & Craft Beer Festival
The Bankers Hill Business Group and San Diego Brewers Guild presents the 2nd Annual Bankers Hill Art & Craft Beer Festival! Held at The Abbey, one of the city’s most historic venues, the festival will feature over 15 local craft breweries, food from some of the most recognized San Diego chefs, and art installations from world-renowned Bankers Hill artists. Participating breweries include Karl Strauss, Pizza Port Brewing Co., Green Flash Brewing Company, Rock Bottom Brewery, Stone Brewing Co., Ballast Point, and more. Don’t miss out! The Hiatus Lounge at Hotel La Jolla is hosting its first spirit event of the season! GinFest will feature premium and unique brands, as well as slow-roasted chicken from Cusp’s chef, Donald Lockhart. Saturday, March 29 from 4-7pm
San Diego Garden Native Tour:
This is a tour of 15 private and public gardens. They are self-guided, but each garden will have knowledgeable docents available to answer questions and will be located in the coastal cities of Encinitas, Carlsbad, Oceanside as well as Vista, San Marcos, & Escondido. Dates are March 29th and 30th from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The tour provides real-life inspiration for both homeowners and designers, showcasing design elements and plant choices that organically rise from a true understanding of the land. Open Air Market
Head over to the upper playground at La Jolla Elementary for a day of live music, creative artisans, diverse food court, and local farm-fresh fruits, vegetables, and flowers. Families and their kids can enjoy the live music, playgrounds, and grass fields to run and play on. Food vendors will be available on site and include places like Le Creperie, The Cheese Store, Sweet Potato Shack, and Papa Luna’s! Find unique treasures such as french linens, artwork, handcrafted jewelry, hats, clothing, and more. 9am – 1pm, Sunday the 30th, at the corner of Girard Ave and Genter St.
Japanese Brush Painting Art Exhibit
Check out the 12th annual Friends of Taka Sumi-e art society show and sale at Balboa Park. In addition to artwork, the show will feature displays of beautiful flower arrangements. Highlights will include demonstrations of brush painting by Takashi Ijichi, a wearable art fashion show, choral performances, and musical performances of the koto, a Japanese stringed instrument, and the shakuhachi, the Japanese flute. 11am-4pm.
