La Jolla Weekend Events June 6-8

Another warm, sunshine-filled weekend is coming our way and as usual, America’s finest city is boasting quite the event lineup. And with the fair and Del Mar Races concerts schedule out, it’s really starting to feel a lot like summer. Here are a few La Jolla weekend events for June 6-8.

Moonglow Design Art Show

What: Hang out and watch the sunset while perusing local art at Moonglow Design, a La Jolla Art Gallery with glass, wood and paintings. Enjoy music, wine, and cheese & crackers while unwinding from a busy week!

San Diego County Fair Opening Day

La Jolla Weekend Events June 6-8What: The SD County Fair has returned and it’s finally open for business! Starting tomorrow through July 6th, enjoy tons of great food, rides, games, live music, and animal and craft exhibits. The 2014 San Diego County Fair is The Fab Fair, which kicks off the summer of 2014 as a tribute to the British Invasion and music phenomena that began 50 years ago.


When: Saturday June 7th & Sunday June 8th, 10am-11pm

Art Around Adams 2014

La Jolla Weekend Events June 6-8

What: A free and family-friendly event, Art Around Adams 2014 will showcase numerous visual and performance artists, stretching from Oregon street in Normal Heights to Vista street in Kensington. More than 100 businesses will change into impromptu art galleries and/or performance arenas for the day. The event consists of over nine performance areas, and also features music, performance art, community murals, circus performers, dance, theatre, projection art, intergalactic superhero wrestling, and comedians on the event’s very own “Comedy Trolley.”

When: Saturday June 7th, 2pm

Triton 5K: Race to the Future

130613_5k1What: Join the Chancellor and 3,000 fellow students, alumni, staff, faculty and friends for a 3.1 mile adventure through campus—past King Triton, the world famous Geisel Library, the Sun God, and a 23-foot-high stone bear. After the race, bring your friends and family to a festival at the Track & Field Stadium (next to the start and finish lines of the 5K course).

When: Saturday June 7th, 9am
Where: Start at Ridge Walk in front of Home Plate Cafe, next to RIMAC Arena

World Oceans Day Celebration

La Jolla Weekend Events June 6-8What: From plankton to whales, explore ocean biodiversity and learn how you can make a difference for our changing oceans. Plastic pollution, ocean acidification, and clean energy will be some of the topics investigated during our hands-on celebration of World Oceans Day. Enjoy tons of activities and games that are fun for the entire family.

When: Sunday June 8th, 11am-3pm
Where: Birch Aquarium at Scripps, 2300 Expedition Way, La Jolla
