La Jolla Music Society Presents Midori

Midori(ljms.or)When: 8 p.m. on Friday, April 25
Where:  MCASD Sherwood Auditorium, 700 Prospect St., La Jolla
What:  La Jolla Music Society presents an evening with Midori Goto, a world-renowned concert violinist, and Ozgur Aydin on the piano. Midori was born in Osaka, Japan, and began playing violin at the age of 6. She is the recipient of the 25th Suntory Music Award (1993) as well as the Avery Fisher Prize in 2001. Ticket prices are $30-$80.

San Diego Kids Expo

kids expoWhen: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday, April 26 to Sunday, April 27
Where:  Del Mar Fairgrounds Exhibit Hall, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar
What:  Check out 150 local and national companies that are all about kids. Activities include games, competitions, arts and crafts, 200-foot zip line, inflatable jump castles, an indoor gym, rock walls and so much more. Entertainment will include karate demos, dance exhibitions, a fashion show, and chef demos. Kids under age 12 are free and $8 for adults.

Healthy Kids Day 2014

HKD14 MainWhen: 10 a.m.-1p.m. on Saturday, April 26
Where:  La Jolla YMCA, 8355 Cliffridge Ave., La Jolla.
What: Bring the kiddos and the entire family to La Jolla YMCA.  The free community event hopes to inspire more kids to keep their minds and bodies active. YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, the Y’s national initiative to improve families’ health and well-being, features games, healthy snack demonstrations, arts and crafts, and more.

La Jolla Half Marathon

Where:  Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar.
What: La Jolla Half Marathon is one of America’s most picturesque and beautiful runs. Starting at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, the course follows a scenic coastal route before reaching the challenging climb to the summit of Torrey Pines State Park and finishes at La Jolla Cove. The race benefits the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla, who raise over $10,000 a year to benefit the needs of children in the larger community.
