There are many wonderful people in La Jolla and San Diego who, for whatever reason, are unable to get to the grocery store or prepare their own meals. La Jolla Meals on Wheels has been proudly serving the La Jolla community since 1974. There are more than 150 volunteers who deliver meals throughout the week as well as offer clients a friendly visit. In most cases, those who volunteer are the only people that the Meals on Wheels clients will see all day.
With that in mind, La Jolla Meals on Wheels has announced a new accompanying program called La Jolla Friendly Visitors which will offer seniors or those who are home-bound 1-2 hour visits. These visits will provide social interaction and friendship which are very important.
Both La Jolla Meals on Wheels and La Jolla Friendly Visitors are funded solely on donations from generous La Jolla residents, businesses, clubs and organizations. They do not receive any government funding. If you would like to donate your time or resources, please visit their website at www.lajollamealsonwheels.org or call their office at (858)452-0391.
