This week I found myself at another great La Jolla Happy Hour spot, The La Jolla Brewing Company. The open layout and soft lighting made for the perfect spot to relax with a drink after a long days work. Happy hour is offered Monday thru Friday from 3-6PM. Luckily for me, it was Wednesday and that means all day happy hour at the La Jolla Brewing Company!
Choose from $3 9oz in-house brews, $4 16oz in-house brews, or $4 house wines. The in-house brew selection includes their signature beer: Sunny Jim’s IPA. According to Brett, the in-house brewer, the Sunny Jim is constantly evolving due to the introduction of new hops they experiment with from all over the world. The Sunny Jim’s IPA is definitely a refreshing brew to have during the summer. Another great find was their delicious pear cider which is not part of the happy hour but was still a good deal at $7 for a 9oz glass.
Happy hour food specials include half priced wings and flatbreads. The regular menu is actually decently priced so we started out with their Fries Three Ways ($6) found on the ‘shares’ portion of the menu. The Three Ways flavors consisted of: Truffle and Parmesan, garlic herb, and old bay with tomato marmalade. We also chose two flat breads from the happy hour menu. The Pearl ($6) is made up of fresh mozzarella and provolone cheese, tomato, shallot, garlic olive oil, and topped with mixed field greens tossed in lemon dijon vinaigrette. The El Padre ($6.50) is stacked with pulled pork, beer braised onion, asiago, jalapeño, onion straws, LJBC BBQ sauce, and cilantro. All three items were completely filling and could feed way more than two people.
Check out these other specials you can enjoy during the week:
Sunday: Join them for Sunday Brunch and get all you can drink specials from 10am- 2pm.
Burger Monday: From 6-11pm get a $10 burger with cheese and a house brew. They also offer $8 beer flights.
Taco Tuesday: $3 Tacos, $4 Dos XX, $5 House Margaritas, $6 Espolon Shots. They also host Trivia from 8pm- close.
Wednesday: All day Happy Hour!
Thursday: Half off bottles of wine and half off baked brie, crab & artichoke dip, and a Mediterranean spread from 6-11pm.
There is also late night specials every night from 9pm – close which includes $3 house drafts and $3 well cocktails. The La Jolla Brewing Company is located at 7536 Fay Ave, La Jolla, CA 92037.
