We’ve made it to the final weekend of February! From hanging out with Marilyn Monroe, to celebrating Dr. Seuss’s Birthday, there is plenty to do this weekend. Here is a brief glance at some of the exciting festivities and attractions taking place over the next three days:
Friday, February 21
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
When: February 17th – March 21st
Where: Main floor, Geisel Library UCSD
What: Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday by visiting Geisel Libary’s newest exhibit, “Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!”. Browse a large selection of original drawings and documents from the personal archive of the beloved children’s author.
When: 7:30PM (With shows running through February 24th)
Where: Mission Bay Park
What: Bring down the entire family to Circus Vargas for an fun-filled and energetic show! Taking place under the iconic big-top, Circus Vargas is filled with death defying acrobatics, mind blowing magic tricks, and much more! Tickets range from $20 – $70. Saturday, February 22
Moonglow Design Art Show
When: 6:00PM – 9:00PM
Where: Moonglow Design Art Gallery
What: Located conveniently on La Jolla Boulevard, Moonglow Design will be hosting an eclectic art gallery that features glass works, wood sculptures, and paintings. Music and refreshments will be provided. A fun event for all ages!
Marilyn Monroe Marathon
When: 12:00PM – 11:00PM
Where: Birch North Park Theatre
What: Enjoy 5 of Marilyn Monroe’s most famous and iconic movies. The first screening starts at 12 noon with screenings late into saturday night. Movie show times are as follows; Niagara (12:00PM), Gentlemen Prefer Blonds (2:00PM), The Seven Year Itch (4:00PM), Some Like It Hot (6:30PM), & The Misfits (9:00PM). Sunday, February 23
Weekend with Locals: Marianne Rose Peters
When: 12:00PM – 1:00PM
Where: Warwick’s La Jolla
What: As part of Warwick’s ongoing “Weekend with Locals” Program, the bookstore will be hosting Marianne Rose Peters. As the author of Coincidence?, Peters will share details and information about her recent romantic thriller. Visit warwicks.com for more information and to R.S.V.P.
La Jolla Farmers Market
When: Every Sunday: 9:00AM – 1:00PM
Where: La Jolla Elementary
What: Conveniently located at La Jolla Elementary School, the weekly La Jolla Farmers Market is the perfect place to bring the whole family and stock up on fresh produce, organic crops, and locally grown greens. Grab breakfast while you’re down there and enjoy live music while browsing artisan gifts.
