La Jolla Events | MLK Weekend January 17-19, 2013

Here is a preview at the upcoming MLK weekend events taking place in La Jolla and around San Diego county:

Rock in the Park
When: 7:00pm
Where: Balboa Park
What: Balboa Park’s Rueben H. Fleet Science Center is hosting its first-ever concert series this winter. Enjoy live performances by Common Sense and Michael Tiernan. Food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase along with admission into the center. Tickets range from $22 to $30.


Jerry Coleman Memorial
When: 9:30am
Where: Petco Park
What: Celebrate the life of former Padres broadcaster, MLB player, and San Diego’s beloved Jerry Coleman. This public memorial will feature special guests and an opportunity to make a charitable donation. The event is free and beings at 9:30am.


Monster Jam
When: 7:00pm
Where: Qualcomm Stadium
What: The world famous Monster Jam is returning to San Diego on Saturday night. Enjoy an evening of wild driving, car slamming, and monster speed fun! Tickets are priced from $15 to $30.

International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) Quarter Finals
When: 7:00pm
Where: Mandeville Auditorium, UC San Diego
What: Calling all “Pitch Perfect” movie fans! Come watch the top west coast college a cappella groups compete in the ICCA Quarter Finals. Here some of your favorite songs performed live and choreographed. Tickets range from $12 to $20



Martin Luther King Day Parade
When: 2:00pm to 5 p.m
Where: Along Harbor Drive in the Embarcadero area
What: Celebrate the life of Martin Luther King Jr. at the annual MLK day parade in downtown San Diego. Join local artists, speakers, performers, and students in this family friendly free event!

La Jolla Farmers Market
When: 9:00am to 1:00pm
Where: La Jolla Elementary School
What: Bring down the whole family, or cruise down on your bike to pick up locally grown produce. Choose from dozens of local farmers, food vendors, and artists. The perfect way to end your weekend!
