Beautiful La Jolla has so much to offer both residents and visitors. One of the big draws to La Jolla is The La Jolla Cove, located at 1100 Coast Boulevard. It is a part of the San Diego La Jolla Underwater Park Ecological Reserve. Located just past the upscale shopping and delicious restaurants in downtown La Jolla, The Cove offers views of the ocean, gentle waves and sandy beaches.
The La Jolla Cove is commonly referred to as the perfect snorkeling spot in all of San Diego. It is known for its calmer, clear waters which is ideal for both beginners and children. There is abundant marine life to explore not far away from the seashore.
The Cove’s clean, sandy beaches offer sun bathers an ideal spot to work on their tans or enjoy a picnic in the sun. The Cove gets very busy so come early and reserve your spot on the sand.
The La Jolla’s Children’s Pool is also a huge draw to The Cove. It is a small cove protected by a concrete breakwater that visitors can walk across and get a closer look at the water and The Children’s Pool’s favorite guests- seals and sea lions. The seals and sea lions inhabit the small cove year around and you can watch them sunbathe and play at close range. At low tide, you can see tide pools to the west of the sea wall.
La Jolla’s famous and historic Sunny Jim Cave is located at 1325 Coast Boulevard. It is open 7 days a week from 10 am to 5 pm and can be accessed through the Cave Store. Here visitors from all over the world can climb down into the caves and explore them from the inside. The Cave Store sells and rents snorkel equipment as well as other gifts and novelty items.
