One of the top three most anticipated car shows of the year, the Concours d’Elegance returns to La Jolla on April 11th – 13th, marking its 10th anniversary in production. The event showcases some of the world’s most exquisite automobile displays celebrating the exhilarating history of European Racing – featuring the likes of Bentley, Ferrari, Maserati, and Rolls-Royce. According to Webster, “Concours” comes from the French and means “a crowd or confluence of things; also a park promenade.” The word calls to mind elegance, grandeur, sparkling coaches, and glistening groomed horses, and the renowned La Jolla Concours D’Elegance (previously simply the Motor Car Classic) isn’t too far off from that image today.
Each event throughout the weekend will embody the culture and passion that surrounds the vintage car community; La Jolla will be alive with the glamour and luxury reminiscent of the days when our little coastal community was a private retreat for Hollywood’s elite stars. This year, the theme is “Celebrating European Race History,” and there are already talks of it being the best show to date.
Tickets are $40 in advance, and $50 on the day of. A VIP ticket is $125, which includes entry to the VIP lounge and hospitality suites with complimentary food and beverages. If you want to enjoy the cocktail party at La Valencia Hotel on Friday evening, tickets are extra; the main Concours event and the La Jolla Motor Car Classic will take place on Sunday from 9am til 4pm.
La Jolla Concours d’Elegance has become an absolute “must” for automobile aficionados from all over. With the La Jolla Cove’s beautiful blue waters and sharp cliffs providing the backdrop, this event time and time again transforms our coastal community into a weekend playground – complete with a remarkable motorcar showcase, shopping, five-star accommodations, and gourmet culinary experiences.
La Jolla Blue Book is a proud sponsor of this event! We will be there throughout the weekend, and will have a booth set up outside on Sunday where you can stop by and get information or ask questions.
