The La Jolla Christmas Parade has been a holiday tradition for 56 years. Drawing on average a crowd of more than 25,000 people, this years parade should be one of the most memorable ever. There are more than 100 participants in the parade and range from beauty queens, vintage vehicles, numerous bands, equestrians, several thousand children marching in different groups, and holiday floats. In honor of the WindanSea Surf Club’s 50th anniversary, they have been named grand marshal and the theme of the parade is “Christmas in the Surf and Sand”.
This years parade is taking place on Sunday, December 8 at 2:00PM. The parade will begin at the corner of Girard & Kline, and make its way to the La Jolla Recreation Center where the Holiday Festival will be held. The Holiday Festival will feature arts & crafts, live music, a Birch Aquarium exhibit, Santa Claus, and conclude with the lighting of the Christmas Tree at 4:30PM.
