Soak up gorgeous resort sunsets and socialize with celebrities at the 3rd Annual La Costa Film Festival in North County! Hosted at the luxurious Omni La Costa Resort and Spa from September 10 – 13, this year’s festival will feature over 47 films, glamorous galas, exclusive world premieres and celebrity panels.
New This Year
The La Costa Film Festival and partner Mandalay Sports Media (MSM) introduce the first ‘Reel Pitch’ competition panel Saturday afternoon! Ten hopeful film-makers will present their ideas to a judging panel of executives and producers (which includes Jessica Alba’s husband, Cash Warren), where one proposal will finally be chosen for professional development and later pitched to a studio partnering with MSM.
La Costa Film Festival will also be including two additional panels, “Game Changer: What Adding Women Can Do for Your Business or Film” with support from the Geena Davis Institute on Gender and Media, and “Storytelling Through Sports”. All panels are free and open to the public.
Films & Events
Throughout the weekend, 18 films and shorts will feature Q & A sessions afterward featuring actors, producers, and directors from the production. Screenings begin with All In Time after Thursday’s Sip & Savor Gala featuring North County’s finest gourmet restaurants, breweries, and wineries. Tickets for individual Galas, or Gala and screening only are available here if you can’t commit to a whole weekend.
See and be seen with sports stars like former NBA star and Sacramento Mayor, Kevin Johnson and actors like John McGinley from the hit TV Show Scrubs, at one of the festival’s many Red Carpet receptions and galas. Event times and locations can be found on La Costa Film Festival schedule.
La Costa Film Festival Awards
LCFF annually presents two awards at the Honors Awards Gala: This year’s Legacy Award recipient is actor John C. McGinley, and the Ambassador of Sport Award, will be presented to Sacramento mayor Kevin Johnson for his role in keeping the NBA Kings based in Sacramento. The LCFF Honors Awards Gala takes place on Saturday evening at the Omni La Costa Resort, followed by a screening of Welcome to Happiness and a themed afterparty.
