Remember when the one and only “Oldchella” was Del Mar’s Kaaboo? La Jolla Blue Book does. Before Golden Voice’s Desert Trip was announced earlier this year, Kaaboo was the only notable “older person” music festival around. But if you think this festival is only for the older crowd that dismisses Coachella, you’re surely in the wrong. Kaaboo is an adult playground, and by adult, we mean all the indulgences of Vegas brought to the seaside. With music, food, gambling and more, Kaaboo is coming in strong for their second year running – and we’re here to help you with your vices! Here are our top six “Adults Only” acts and indulgences to try at Kaaboo!
Palate: Unleash your inner Dionysus (that is the Greek God of food and wine) and indulge in all of Kaaboo’s fine delicacies and libations! Top restaurants such as Searsucker Del Mar, Bottega Americano, and Jinya Ramen Bar will be attendance to give your body some much needed nutrients. Featured beer and spirits include Ballast Point and Mezcal Vago, but if you really want to take indulgence to the extreme – don’t you dare pass up on The Milk Bar or Momenti Spirited Ice Cream! Dessert and booze? Yes please!
Sarah Silverman: While there are many great comedy acts performing at Kaaboo, none are more adult than Sarah Silverman. Yes, she’s feisty, a bit immature, and definitely rude and vulgar – but she’s smart and witty too. There is a reason why she is in the spotlight and the headlining comedian for Saturday, find out why by hitting up her set.
Bask: Did you miss all of the cool adult swim parties in Vegas this year? You’re in luck! Get wet at Bask, where they have partnered with Wet Republic to give you cabanas and a day pool right in the middle of the festival! The sandy beach area is set in direct view of the Grandview Stage, with day passes at $25 and cabanas at $1200. Trust, the cabana is well worth it if you want to throw yourself a little boozy bikini party right in front of your favorite musical acts!
Lenny Kravitz: Need we say more? Maybe you love that he is talented, maybe you love his style, maybe you are completely aware that his junk fell out once and are looking forward to a repeat performance! We wouldn’t hold our breathe, but for a man of 52, Kravitz still can bring out the inner hormonal teen in you! Catch him on Saturday right before your other favorite classic rockers/guilty pleasure: Aerosmith.
Indulgences: But of course there would be a feature at Kaaboo entitled, Indulgences! From shopping to full service spa treatments, Indulgences will leave you with a lighter wallet and supple skin! At Kaaboo, money is for spending – so don’t worry about it. Take in a little retail therapy with Savvi Jewels, enjoy a full body massage from Massage Heights, get a chocolate and champagne facial from Circadia – you’re worth it!
The Chainsmokers and Steve Aoki: No festival is complete without an electronic act. Both The Chainsmokers and Steve Aoki are top billing for Saturday, and can offer you two types of electronic sounds. Get rowdy and crazy with Aoki, followed by a bass heavy, sexy chill down with The Chainsmokers… though if you’re lucky (which I’m sure you are) and still want to get down and crazy, we’re pretty sure The Chainsmokers will play some of their older music, most notably “Selfie.”
Kaaboo Del Mar is Friday, Sept. 16 – Sunday, Sept. 18. Passes are still on sale, so don’t miss out on this 3-day experience.
