Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month? All month you can celebrate the long, hot days of summer by enjoying America’s favorite cold treat at a variety of La Jolla restaurants and eateries!
National Ice Cream Month was established in 1984 by then president Ronald Reagan who was an avid ice cream affectionado. Regan recognized ice cream as a fun and nutritious food that was enjoyed by more than 90% of the American population. He saw that ice cream created a sense of nostalgia for many, bringing them back to a time of carefree summers and happiness, and urged all Americans to pay homage to the frozen treat with the “appropriate ceremonies and activities.”
Today, the International Ice Cream Association (yes there is such a thing!) encourages retailers and Americans to celebrate July as National Ice Cream Month. Whether you decide to purchase a carton of your favorite ice cream from your local grocery store or you head to an ice cream parlor in downtown La Jolla, there is no wrong way to enjoy ice cream.
Ice cream not your first choice? Don’t worry, there are plenty options for dining in La Jolla where you can still sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful July weather. From restaurants in La Jolla with free Wi-Fi to quaint cafés with views of the Pacific, grab your friends and family and indulge in your favorite summer treats.
