Here Comes Santa Claus (and the Pacific Beach Holiday Parade), Right Down Garnet Ave

Pacific Beach Holiday Parade

The beloved Pacific Beach Holiday Parade is set to bring its holiday spirit back to the PB community on Saturday, December 12 at 1 pm. Kick off the season with a festive procession of music and fun!

A Pacific Beach tradition since 1977, the Holiday Parade has faced financial struggles in recent years. This year’s parade is still not guaranteed, but Discover PB executive director Sara Berns announced the team is “about halfway to our fundraising goal to raise $18,000.” A GoFundMe is circulating for community members to support the tradition, so if you’ve loved the parade in years past consider donating to the campaign here!

This year’s theme, “A Beachin’ Holiday” promises a variety of floats and performers, including local school marching bands, dancers and equestrian riders. Classic cars and shiny PB fire trucks will be sure to wow the little ones and thrill any auto enthusiast! Be sure to stick around to see Santa at the end, then grab a late lunch (or Happy Hour) at one of PB’s great restaurants.

Guests would do well to show up ahead of time, as sidewalks to watch from quickly get crowded! Be sure to scope out parking ahead of time, and bring water and sunscreen (yes, you can still get sun damage in the winter). Check out the Facebook page of the Pacific Beach Holiday parade for more pictures and videos of last year’s event, including Santa riding on a fire truck.

Find more details or register your float or group (it’s not too late!) at the Pacific Beach city homepage and donate to the Holiday Parade GoFundMe. Don’t forget to try some more of the Top 10 Things to Do in San Diego This December!
