Alright golf fans, this is the event you’ve been waiting for. Farmers Insurance Open is back! Pro golfer Tiger Woods is also back in La Jolla and will defend his 2013 Farmers Insurance Opener title. The annual PGA TOUR golf tournament will be held along the coast at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla. Farmers Insurance Open sponsorship has been extended through 2019. Past winners include golfers Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson and Brandt Snedeker. Close to $2.5 million was generated from FIO last year which benefited more than 200 local groups through The Century Club of San Diego.
The Century Club of San Diego is organized for the main purpose of administering and promoting San Diego’s annual PGA TOUR golf tournament, the Farmers Insurance Open. The annual net earnings of the corporation are used solely for charitable purposes, with a focus on San Diego at-risk youth and youth charities.
Do you plan on attending the tournament? A shuttle service sponsored by the La Jolla Brewing Company will be available in the La Jolla Village from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 and Sunday, Jan. 26. The pick up station will be at the La Jolla Village Information Center and drop off is at the Torrey Pines Gliderport. The cost is $5.
