Not only does La Jolla have amazing views, but it also offers amazing outdoor dining. This summer, relax and treat yourself to a wonderful al fresco experience. With warm summer breezes and a perfect location, La Jolla is perfect for an outdoor dinner!
1. Georges At The Cove-Ocean Terrace
With costal views and an outdoor setting that is unparalleled in San Diego, you must try Georges At The Cove! No other restaurant offers such dramatic views of the coastline. With an amazing menu focusing on costal flavors and modern Californian cuisine, you’ll be returning to George’s in no time!
Bluebook tip: Be sure to try their Mexican style Shrimp Ceviche! Full of cucumber, onion, cilantro, and avocado, its perfect for summer!
2. Eddie V’s
Situated above the Pacific Ocean is one of La Jolla’s finest restaurants. With an outdoor patio open for dinner, Eddie V’s is perfect for a special occasion requiring gorgeous views while eating outside. Specializing in Prime Seafood and Steak, be sure to taste the Pacific Ahi Tuna seared with Asian Pear, Cashews, and Mango Vinaigrette.
Bluebook tip: Not in the mood for dinner? Bring your friends to the V Lounge for drinks and appetizers while listening to live music. The lounge conveniently has seating both indoors and outdoors.
3. Cody’s La Jolla
In the mood for outdoor breakfast? Located right up the hill from the La Jolla Cove, Cody’s is ideal for a quant breakfast, brunch, or lunch. Enjoy the views of the ocean while sitting in the garden or patio right outside the adorable yellow cottage.
Bluebook tip: Cody’s is famous for their incredible Cod Fish and Chips, but also be sure to try their french toast. Thick slices of bread and cie challan grilled with candied walnuts, strawberries, and marscapone honey butter is my favorite item on the menu!
4. The Cottage
The Cottage is a La Jolla staple. The charming cottage is complemented with an oversized outdoor patio. Enjoy southern california cuisine while sipping on mimosas and trying one of their delicious menu items. The southern california frittata and Crabcake benedict are some of my all time favorites!
Bluebook tip: The wait during breakfast hours can be incredibly long. We recommend going early(they open at 7:30 everyday). We also suggest trying the Cottage for dinner! They are open for dinner from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
5. Amaya La Jolla
Amaya is one of the newest additions to La Jolla. With its sister restaurant located at the Grand Del Mar, Amaya focuses on bold dishes with inspiration from southern cooking. With tables located right on the middle of Prospect street, Amaya is perfect for your next date night. Sit outdoors while watching shoppers, tourists, and locals stroll the streets of La Jolla.
Bluebook tip: Seating on the patio is very limited. Be sure to make reservations in advance and request to be seated outside!
6. Piatti Italian Restaurant & Bar
You can’t go wrong with choosing Piatti’s! A La Jolla classic for decades, this warm and charming restaurant in the shores serves up some of the best Italian food in San Diego. Choose to sit in the lush courtyard garden and you won’t be disappointed! The orecchiette pasta with grilled chicken, sun-dried tomatoes, asparagus, and creamy gorgonzola sauce is the most ordered item on the menu! It’s hands down fantastic!
Bluebook tip: In case you have to wait for the patio, take a stroll down the street to the shores for a beautiful ocean view. Even go after dinner to walk off your delicious Italian meal!
Exhilarate your taste buds with a fun night out to Roppongi. Enjoy sushi and Asian fusion at this enjoyable and vibrant restaurant. Take a seat on the street front patio or at the courtyard fireplace. Menu highlights include Macadamia crusted Mahi Mahi, Shrimp Lo Mein, Boneless Beef short ribs, and Tahitian Bananas topped with crispy almond brittle for dessert!
Bluebook tip: Be sure to take advantage of Roppongi’s happy hour! Enjoy half priced tapas daily from 3:00pm-6:00pm on the patio and lounge only. The long list of tapas include a raw New York steak Japanese hot rock, duck quesadilla, Ahi Poke, and their signature Crab Stack.
8. Prepkitchen La Jolla
In the mood for organic, fresh, and delicious fare? Try Prepkitchen! With a menu that constantly changes to keep up with seasonal ingredients, you’ll be happy you chose to eat here. With a very rustic atmosphere, the menu includes a warm white bean & arugula salad with red onion, smoked chicken caesar salad, local halibut crudo, and an ecletic cutting board.
Bluebook tip: Be sure to take advantage of their happy hour. Served from 3:00pm-6:00pm daily, enjoy $4 tapas, $5 glasses of Sangria($25 for a bottle), and 25% off any bottle of wine.
9. Beaumont’s Eatery
Located in the heart of Birdrock, this neighborhood eatery is perfect any day of the week. Either for a fun date night or for the entire family, Beaumont’s is ideal for al fresco dining. Enjoy dinner on the outdoor patio while watching bikers, surfers, dog walkers, and neighborhood locals stroll Birdrock. Beaumont’s serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. Dinner highlights include share plates, house made daily soup, and build your own cutting boards.

10. Sushi On The Rock La Jolla
While walking along Prospect street, be sure to check out Sushi on the Rock. Located up the hill from the cove, take the escalator next door to Francesca’s Collection. Set atop Prospect street, enjoy sitting on the outdoor patio while listening to the bustling pedestrians down below. Try their delicious sushi, specialty sashimi, nigiri, and bento boxes. Seating outside is limited, so be sure to make a reservation!
Bluebook tip: Take advantage of Sushi on the Rocks extensive Happy Hour menu. Served daily from 4:00pm-6:30pm, delight yourself with sake specials, starters, sushi, and hand rolls.
