Do you want to celebrate the holidays while contributing to a good cause? San Diego’s charitable events calendar is filling up as non-profits around the county start gearing up for the holiday season. Now is your chance to help those who are less fortunate by attending charity functions or by lending a hand at a food or toy drive.
Here’s a list of this weekend’s fun philanthropic events:
- Christmas Card Lane | Dec. 6, 11 am to 4 pm | California Center For The Arts
The California Center For The Arts in Escondido is hosting this one day event to benefit the Boys & Girls Club of San Diego. Tickets will grant you access to the “Vintage Glam Wonderland” themed party which will include a vintage boutique (think Anne Taylor and Van de Vort), fashion show, champagne and local celebrities. Tickets are $125 per person or $1,200-$1,400 for a table of 10.
- Pet Photos with Santa | Dec. 7, 10 am to 4 pm | Escondido Humane Society
For a $10 donation to the Escondido Human Society owners can take their pets to get their photo taken with Santa (costumes are encouraged). You’ll receive a 4×6 print of the photo to take home with you or you can purchase a CD of images for an additional $10. Afterwards you can peruse the boutique where you can buy your four-legged friend a treat if they’ve been good with their veterinarian this year or purchase some homemade holiday gifts for your human friends.
- Sparkle | Dec. 7, 10 am to 2 pm | The Handlery Hotel
The Soroptimist International of La Jolla, CA is hosting this fashion-forward event to raise money for their organization, which works to improve the lives of women and girls in this community. The event will feature a luncheon, cash bar, lots of shopping, a fashion show and a grand prize giveaway worth $1,500! Event tickets are $40 and raffle tickets are $10.
