New Year’s Eve isn’t just about champagne for the adults! Here are some family fun ideas!

An Early Countdown

Bedtimes with kids are always a tough battle. The little ones want to stay up and the parent usually ends up having to drag them kicking and screaming to bed. One idea would be to celebrate NYE at an earlier time. Simply move the clocks around. You can really get creative with party supplies. This will let the little ones join in the fun and not feel like the adults excluded them.

Do a Balloon Drop!

There’s nothing like falling balloons. Falling balloons are a big part of political conventions and new years eve.

Maybe you want to replicate the fun of a ballroom balloon drop in the comfort of your own home? Try doing netting and putting balloons on the net. Hang them from the ceiling and release them when guests count down to 0 and ring in the new year

Another fun idea using balloons is to have each child write a resolution or wish for the New Year on a piece of paper. Have them  fold their paper and place it inside a balloon, fill the balloons with helium, tie with ribbon, and have the kids release them into the air as the clock strikes midnight.

Bust Out the Games

NYE is a great family fun bonding time! Typically the kids are usually running around to sports practices and the harried mom has to get dinner on the table. This can be a nice time to relax and enjoy family time with a game.

Perhaps, you can even incorporate New Years into your games too. Make a game out of it. Sit around and try to guess your guests or family members New Years Resolutions! This is fun for the whole family! Perhaps, if you are feeling brave enough you could try some karaoke.

Make it Festive

Don’t be afraid to splurge and make it feel festive. By buying hats, noise makers, confetti, and silly string, your kiddos will feel like they’re really celebrating. Maybe even throw on a few tunes and have a dance party. Yeah, you’ll maybe have a little bit of a mess to clean up- but isn’t that the point?

If you’re feeling ambitious, you can even make your own decorations and party hats!

Cheers!

Why not do a New Year’s Toast that kids can join in on? Get a plastic wine glass or champagne flute and fill it with warm apple cider or cocoa. As always, drink responsibly… to avoid stomach aches.

Say Cheese!

If you have Floyd Mayweather level money you could rent a professional photographer or rent one of these from a traveling carnival. Your party guests could hop inside and try on costumes and take fun pictures. A fun time would be had by all.

Good Ole Netflix

Celebrate the New Year with your pals from “Fuller House”, “Word Party”, “Trollhunters”, and much more. Netflix will be offering NYE countdown videos that you can throw on anytime. Your little ones will really think that it’s midnight!

A Classic Sleepover

You could let your kid invite their friends over for a slumber party. Their friends could bring over sleeping bags. You could make snacks and plan fun games for them!

Regardless of whatever you do to celebrate the New Year with your family, we hope you have a wonderful time welcoming in 2017!
