It’s Super Bowl time again! If you want to celebrate with fellow San Diego and La Jolla folks, we have some of the best spots for you to check out. Enjoy, and as always, celebrate responsibly.

Karl Strauss Brewery La Jolla

If you love cracking open a bottle of Karl Strauss at home, then you must go check out the La Jolla Location. Strauss has been proudly serving California since 1989, and their drinks are brewed fresh at their Main Brewery in Pacific Beach, San Diego. Have a real experience and pay a visit to Karl Strauss on game day.  Sandwiches, salads, and appetizers are also served. Sunday hours are 11 am – 9 pm.

The Shack

Nothing says Super Bowl better than a favorite spot by the locals. Located steps away from Windansea Beach in La Jolla, The Shack offers delicious food and great beer and cocktails. Plus, the fact that they’re pet friendly, have a sweet firepit, and 12 TVs make it even better. Feel right at home and watch the game at The Shack.

The Lot La Jolla

Why not catch the gruelling action on the gridiron, then relax with a flick at The Lot La Jolla? Patrons will enjoy a choice of either indoor or outdoor viewing areas in the restaurant, bar and patio at La Jolla hot spot. The Lot always goes big with Super Bowl Sunday, so be sure to call and make plans!

Don’t Miss the Electric Bike Festival!

Okay, so you may pack on a pound or ten on turkey day, but don’t panic. Instead, go to the electric bike Festival on November 25th. There will be food & drinks, a storewide sale, and raffle tickets to win an Ebike- so don’t miss out!

What’s Good in San Diego This Weekend? May 6th – 7th

If you’re a San Diegan, you already know there’s a gazillion things to do in the city. Picking one out of many can make for a difficult choice. Maybe you’re visiting our wonderful city and are looking for something to do. Either way, here’s some great events to consider this Cinco de Mayo weekend!

Rock Star Beer Festival San Diego: Cinco de Mayo Edition
6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego
Mexican craft beers will be pouring repeatedly at the Cinco de Mayo celebration at the downtown San Diego Hard Rock Hotel. Participants of the annual extravaganza have an opportunity to delight in sampling in excess of 50 brewski’s! Meanwhile, patrons are free to peep out there separate areas to party down in: the “Woodstock Deck”, highlighting live music from Latin-inspired cover bands, the ever popular kicked back pool area, and “Float” featuring high-energy goings on! Once you get that urge to munch out, superb varieties of tacos replete with the works will be on hand. Tickets begin at $35 and $50 per person.
San Diego Padres v. Los Angeles Dodgers
7:10 p.m. at Petco Park
A three-game series begins this weekend at lovely Petco Park between the hometown Padres and their longtime rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. Friday’s game begins at 7:10 p.m., Saturday’s game sees the first pitch hurled at 5:40 p.m., and the series wraps up on Sunday at 1:40 p.m. This is Nurse Appreciation Week so get out and show your support for the home team. Tickets begin at $18.

Cinco DEL Mayo
All day through May 8 at the fantastic Hotel del Coronado
Affectionately named and quite creative, the “Cinco DEL Mayo” weekend will see patrons relishing in adult beverages and foot-tapping tunes. Of course, all the fine food and good times come with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean to the west and Mexico to the south.

MiraCosta College’s 7th Annual Car & Motorcycle Show
9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the MiraCosta College Parking Lot 1A
The MiraCosta College Automotive Technology Program will hold its 7th Annual Car & Motorcycle Show on its delightful campus located at Parking Lot 1A (1 Barnard Dr. in Oceanside). The eye-opening event is always free for spectators. Patrons can expect to feast their eyes on exciting cars, live music, awards, a drawing, and a heart-pounding go-cart competition.

Car daddies (and mommies, too!) may display their vehicles for $20 a pop on the day of the event. This isn’t only about cars, however! Any car or motorcycle may be exhibited and there is never any undue restrictions when it comes to makes or models. Types of vehicles will feature those head spinning hot rods, classics from years past we wish we’d kept, tuners, trucks to drool over, customs rides and choppers, rat rods, plus original and restored cars (and works in still in the progress of restoration). As always, all proceeds from the exciting event will benefit our military, veterans and EOPS students at MiraCosta College.

Where to Watch Superbowl LI in San Diego this Sunday

Believe it or not, over 25% of people watch the Super Bowl just for the commercials. Whether you’re tuning in to watch the big game, the halftime show, or the typically humorous commercials, these San Diego bars are ideal spots to be for Super Bowl LI on Sunday February 5.

As always, please have fun responsibly and don’t drink and drive.

The Lot La Jolla

Why not catch the gruelling action on the gridiron, then relax with a flick at The Lot La Jolla? Patrons will enjoy a choice of either indoor or outdoor viewing areas in the restaurant, bar and patio at La Jolla hot spot. Super Bowl Sunday’s special buffet menu will be offering beloved stadium food such as The Lot Cheeseburger, Traditional Quarter Pound Hot Dog, Bratwurst, and mouth-watering Chicken Wings. Buffet prices are $60 for adults and $25 for kids respectively, with an additional separate charge for beverages. Seating will go quickly, are limited in number, and reservations are required.

Drift Eat + Drink

Cheer on the Atlanta Falcons or New England Patriots at The Hyatt Regency La Jolla’s Super Bowl party. This annual event will be held at its posh rooftop restaurant and patio, DRIFT eat + drink. Beginning at 3:30 p.m. an all-you-can-eat buffet will feature a create your own ropa veja nacho bar, black bean chili, kicked-up chicken wings, and assorted sliders, all sure to please your palate. Additionally, for sweet aficionados, cookies and brownies will be offered. Guests will also enjoy craft beers, micro brews, and cocktails from the bar.

Westroot Tavern

The Westroot Tavern in Del Mar Heights is your go to place to get your eat on this Super Bowl Sunday. Guests can load up on an all-you-can-eat selection of hot dogs, brats, tri-tip and barbecue ribs with coleslaw, French fries and potato salad, plus delicious chili and beer cheese — all for a mere $25. In addition, with every backyard barbecue purchase, Super Bowl fans will receive a free raffle ticket for an opportunity to win various prizes, including gift cards, apparel and other delights. The fun times begin at 9:30pm.

The Waterfront

One of San Diego’s classic spots is throwing a Super Bowl party with complimentary homemade sausages created by Grandma Nancy Nichols. Patrons can also enjoy regular menu bites such as tots, wings, sliders and tacos. And what better way to chase great food than with great drinks? The Waterfront is offering $3 pints or $11 Coors Light and Blue Moon pitcher specials.

Parq

Parq is not messing around. Guests will cheer on the action on as 30-foot ultra-high-definition LED wall TV, all the while relishing in delectable food and specialty cocktails. In addition, guest will enjoy live entertainment from aerial dancers and DJ Kyle Flesch. All the festivities begin at 2:30 until 6:30 p.m. or whenever the game ends. The best news is that there is free entry. Conversely, guests can binge at one of nineteen VIP tables. Please note that this special event is 21or over only.

Firehouse

Be warned. This is not for the light-hearted. The bar and restaurant with awesome rooftop ocean views expands its space by fencing off an outdoor parking lot to create a “backyard” barbecue party space. Guests will be able to watch the big game on a 20-foot LED Jumbotron. In addition, “Club Caliente” replete with scrumptious tacos, turf and tequila, is decked out by Grand Artique and will feature a guest chef from Rubicon Deli. But that’s not all! Your favorite DJs, a complete bar, local beers, and cozy couches or bleacher seating options are available. The memorable event kicks off at 1 p.m., and tickets are an affordable $20.

Social Tap

The Social Tap offers twenty-one 60-inch TVs, indoor-outdoor bars, and well over 30 beers on tap. Social Tap is a fantastic spot to eat, drink, and cheer on the Atlanta Falcons or New England Patriots for Super Bowl LI. There will be a DJ from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the East Village location, plus a happy hour. Social Tap specials include mouth-watering chicken wings, loaded potato rounds, as well as game day pricing on select beer and cocktails. Both locations (College Area and East Village) have dog friendly patios for that special pet!

Beerfish

Beerfish will be holding a crawfish boil in honor of the annual Super Bowl festivities. Priced at an affordable $20 per guest, the South Carolina-inspired spread will feature all of the traditional fixings, in addition to a special barbecue oyster station. Beginning at 3 and continuing until 8 p.m., pro football enthusiasts can also savor thirty craft beers on tap, all while watching the action either indoors or on their outside patio.

Miller’s Field

Miller’s Field is certainly no alien when it comes to hosting great football parties, and Super Bowl Sunday will be no exception. The Miller’s crew is takin’ it to the street with a huge party in the parking lot, outdoor beer garden, and indoor and outdoor seating. And ask yourself, “What other great place is featuring $1,000 in giveaways? These prizes include a 55-inch big screen TV. If that isn’t enough, there is no cover charge and table reservations are available for guaranteed seating.

Double Deuce

Bottoms up! Toss a few “adult beverages” back at Double Deuce at the bar’s all-you-can-eat tailgate party from 3 p.m. to halftime and then all-you-can-drink from 3 p.m. until the game’s exciting finale. An easily affordable $35 ticket includes a buffet, featured drafts and premium liquor, two halftime raffle tickets, plus access to the chips and salsa cart available from halftime until the end of the game. Additionally, all guests will take home a 22-ounce souvenir pint glass your country on.

Eureka!

Eureka! You found the perfect place to watch the Superbowl! Celebrate game day with an all-day $10 wings and beer “Supper Bowl” special. Beginning at 1 p.m. until closing time, guests may opt from one of numerous permanent beers on the list and an order of their signature Eureka! chili wings for only ten bucks. Guests will discover there are plenty of regular game day items to grub out on with Eureka’s menu. These include lollipop corn dogs, smoked chicken nachos, and osso bucco riblets. Make plans to enjoy the Super Bowl with family and friends at Eureka!

Tin Roof

Love the game but hate the commercials? The DJ at Tin Roof will spin tunes during commercials. Patrons can watch the game from one of 25 TVs, or on the bar’s projector screen. To add to the excitement, Tin Roof will be giving away prizes throughout the day, feature wing specials and 100-ounce Beer Towers (they’re actually crafty at the Tin Roof).

Soda & Swine

Soda & Swine will be celebrating the day with fantastic specials, including tempura fried onion rings, “walking taco” mac n’ cheese and chili fritos, wings, and a gridiron slider. Partnering with Italian spirits brand Fernet Branca for the ultimate game day festivities, look for a friendly game of Super Bowl Squares. Additionally, Soda & Swine is giving away prizes and featuring cocktail specials.

Pacific Islander Beer Company

Why not get away and escape to a tropical paradise? Patrons can enjoy Hawaiian-themed brew specials, including the brewery’s Pineapple Honey Blonde.
