The 50th Super Bowl is here! Looking for a place to watch the big game? You won’t be disappointed with hearty brews and bites from these classic La Jolla breweries and restaurants. Here’s our list of the best places to go to celebrate the NFL’s golden anniversary.
1) La Jolla Brewing Company
La Jolla Brewing Co. has no shortage of TVs, as their state-of-the-art Tasting Room features 8 LCD screens. Try any selection of craft brews inspired by local landmarks like Bird Rock Brown Ale, Glider Port Pale, or Sunny Jim’s IPA. Sunday hours are 9:30 am – 10 pm.
La Jolla Tap & Grill is one of La Jolla’s newer restaurants (see 9 New Restaurants to Try) but quickly becoming a local hotspot. Offering a diverse menu of Americana favorites, the restaurant also specializes in draft beer and wines. On Sunday, Feb. 7 for Super Bowl 50 La Jolla Tap & Grill is offering $15 pitchers and half off flatbreads and wings throughout the game. Sunday hours are 9 am – 10:30 pm.
3) The Shack
Featured in our Best Taco Tuesday Deals, The Shack is known for both its view of Windansea Beach and its fresh tacos! The restaurant boasts 16 TVs and is definitely a great place to catch the game any week. You’ll have a great time watching Super Bowl 50 here, as they’re offering $10 pitchers of Tecate and $7.95 wings. Sunday hours are 11 am – 2 am.
4) Karl Strauss Brewery
The Karl Strauss Brewery is always sure to impress! With fresh and bold local brews like Wreck Alley Imperial Stout, the classic Red Trolley Ale, and Bavarian-style Windansea Wheat, beer fans and beginners alike will find a new favorite. Sandwiches, salads, and appetizers are also served, see their menu online. Sunday hours are 11 am – 9 pm.
5) Hennessey’s Tavern
Hennessey’s Tavern will be hosting a Super Bowl 50 All You Can Eat and Drink special! There’ll be a buffet laid out and all the house beers on tap. Tickets cost $40 a person, but be sure to buy them ahead of time because on the day of Super Bowl 50 admission will be $50 (appropriate!) Sunday hours are 8 am – late.
6) Rock Bottom Brewery
If you don’t mind going inland, Rock Bottom Brewery offers “award-winning, hand-crafted beers by Brewmaster Carli Smith” as well as seating room for all your buddies. Try the Fallen Angel Belgian-Style Golden Ale and grab an appetizer in front of the TVs! Sunday hours are 11 am – 11 pm.
If You’re Hosting a Party of Your Own
Don Carlos Taco Shop
A local favorite, Don Carlos is always reliable for a fantastic burrito, though anything on their menu deserves a “wow.” They’re offering a carry-out special that’ll knock the socks off your Super Bowl 50 party: for just $75 you’ll get 15 mini burritos with all the sides! Make sure to get your order in by February 5.
