Enjoy music, art, and appetizers in the cozy confines of the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library at Holidays on Vinyl on December 10. Stroll through captivating pieces of art from the Athenaeum’s Permanent Collection and stacks of books nestled in the bookshelves; enjoy delicious bites from Whisknladle and craft brews from Stone Brewing Co. while Drew Peters, the Songstruck DJ, fills the air with the sounds of vintage and contemporary vinyl.
Tom Brosseau and Sean Watkins (of Nickel Creek and Watkins Family Hour) will later perform a 45 minute set at 8:30pm. Their sound harmoniously combines folk, rock, and bluegrass in a refreshing take on classic music. If you love music, this intimate winter evening is a perfect way to kick off the holidays at the Athenaeum; purchase your tickets online ahead of time or at the door the day of.
Currently, the Rotunda Gallery at the Athenaeum is featuring the work of Eloise Duff and her show entitled Where We Went, which displays a selection from 145 ink drawings illustrating the travels she and her husband Russell have taken over the last thirty years.

The Night Owls is a membership group for young arts and music enthusiasts aged 21 to 40-something who are interested in expanding their horizons in music and art. Founded in 2005 as “The A List,” the Night Owls host several events a year at either the library in La Jolla or the Athenaeum’s School of the Arts art studio in University Heights. These 21+ events often feature an art exhibition, food and drinks, and a live performance or lecture by a musician, poet, art teacher, or guest lecturer.
