The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival returns to La Jolla for its seventh annual season on October 10th and 11th. It only continues to grow with each year, and now stretches over half a mile, attracts nearly 45,000 people, and showcases 150 artists from around the globe as one of the most prestigious art and wine festivals in all of Southern California.
Featuring the works of established artists from all over the world, art will be showcased in a variety of mediums: sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, fine glass, woodwork, mixed media, photography, and more. Other activities will include a silent auction, live roving entertainment, a gourmet marketplace, and a family art center. The family center will be located on Wall Street and offers various activities for the little ones; children will be able to paint a real car, make beach glass necklaces, create Girl Scout swaps, race real cork boats, and face paint.
The festival will also feature a specialty wine and beer garden. Participating eateries include The Village Greens, Cucina Caprese, The Promiscuous Fork, Kettle Corn of San Diego, and more. Local breweries include La Jolla Brewing Company, Stone, Ballast Point, Fat Cat, , Rock Bottom, St. Archer, and Coronado Brewing Company, to name a few.
The festival began in 2009 as an extension of the Friends of La Jolla Elementary’s Open Aire Market. All profits raised benefit underfunded community programs, including art, music, science, physical education, technology, and on-site medical care at local public elementary and middle schools. Since its inception, the festival has already raised over $500,000 for local schools.
The La Jolla Art & Wine Festival will be Saturday, October 10 from 10am-7pm and Sunday, October 11 from 10am – 6pm all along Girard Avenue. Old Town Trolley will be providing free shuttle service from Muirlands Middle School and La Jolla High into the festival area; valet parking will be available at the Bank of America on Silverado St. For more information visit their website.
