In anticipation of the seventh Star Wars film, “The Force Awakens” hitting theaters December 18, we’ve put together 5 fun ways you can get your Star Wars fix in San Diego before the big day. 1. Star Wars Countdown at Urge Gastro Pub
When: Wednesday, December 16th @ 4:00pm
What: Urge Gastro Pub has teamed up with Intergalactic Brewing Company to bring you a fun night of Star Wars shenanigans. Enjoy food specials, Star Wars giveaways, a costume contest, and of course- delicious brews from Intergalactic with cool names like Red Leader, Galactic Milk Stout on Nitro, to name a few. The first 50 people that order an Intergalactic beer will receive either a R2-D2, C-3PO or Darth Vader metal can cooler, with a random select few receiving a Chewbacca can cooler! 2. Lightsaber Battle San Diego
When: Saturday, December 19 from 9pm to 11pm at the Waterfront Park
What: Join fellow San Diego Star Wars fans for a world record attempt for the largest lightsaber battle. No lightsaber? No worries! contribute $10, and a lightsaber will be reserved for you here. No lightsabers will be for sale at the event. After everyone has their lightsabers, choose your side and split into Jedi or Sith, then the battle begins! 3. The Comic Book Art of Star Wars at The San Diego Comic Art Gallery (SDCAG)
When: Now through January 31st, 2016. 2765 Truxten Rd San Diego, 92106.
What: This limited exhibit features 30 pieces of rare Star Wars original art from the very first comic book series released by Marvel Comics in 1977. Also, pick up a copy of The Artifact Edition, a 12″ x 17” oversized hardcover art book featuring scans of original art from Marvel Comics’ groundbreaking Star Wars comics. This would be an excellent Christmas gift for that Jedi on your list, find it at most comic book stores or order it direct from IDW Publishing here. The exhibition is free to the public.
4. LEGO® STAR WARS™ at Legoland California
What: Check out a re-creation of seven of the most famous scenes from the Star Wars series, as well as a scene from the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars™ all made out of 1.5 million LEGO® bricks built in 1:20 scale. You’ll also have a photo-op with life-size LEGO models of Chewbacca, R2-D2 and Darth Vader!
5. AMC Star Wars Marathon Event at Mission Valley 20
When: Starts on Thursday, December 17, Starting at 1:00am.
What: All Seven Movies, One Epic Journey. Finish the week with a Star Wars Marathon of all seven movies at AMC Mission Valley! Guests will see each of the six previously released Star Wars episodes in digital 2D beginning with THE PHANTOM MENACE and concluding with the opening of STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS in 3D!
