The 2017 San Diego Blues Festival

shutterstock_557948161When the San Diego Blues Festival originated six years ago in 2011, it began with an unassuming mission, that is, to provide exceptional blues music at an reasonable price, and to solicit preciously needed finances to back the ongoing fight against hunger in the greater San Diego community.

Ever since then, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank has shared some of the finest blues musicians around the world with a grateful and ever growing audience. In the festival’s initial four years, our champions as well as our faithful festival goers have assisted by subsidizing an incredible 12n tons of food, and more than $585,000 to help the Food Bank combat hunger in greater San Diego County.

This year we are privileged to introduce to our attendees and patrons Mavis Staples as our headliner. Not only is she a Grammy Award winner and member of the Blues and Rock And Roll Halls of Fame, Ms. Staples was additionally bestowed with a Kennedy Center Honor in December of 2016, the United States utmost arts honor. This year’s lineup also features an additional Blues Hall of Famer, Joe Louis Walker and the ever popular California Honeydrops. Furthermore, all things considered, there will be a grand total of nine acts during Saturday, encompassing an extensive variety of blues styles.

With the assistance of in excess of 28,000 dedicated volunteers, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank provides nourishment to some 370,000 individuals each month in San Diego County.
