Athletes, medical professionals, and supporters come together to celebrate the 13th annual Taste at the Cove on September 4th. The event will feature food, libations, a silent and live auction, and more, all for a good cause.

Taste at the Cove

Taste at the Cove, hosted by the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation, is entering its 13th year of successful fundraising. Hundreds gather annually at Ellen Scripps Browning Park just above the La Jolla Cove for a five star event to raise money for the foundation. Guests can reserve a table for $3,000 to $5,000 or buy tickets at the door, for standing room only, for $400. The fundraiser will feature food from some of San Diego’s top-rated restaurants including Puesto, The Cravory, Cafe Milano, Jose’s Courtroom, La Valencia, Bijou French Bistro, and more. A New York style fashion show, live and silent auctions, and an unforgettable night in La Jolla are also on the agenda. Donations to the foundation are welcome from those who are not able to attend but still wish to support the foundation.

Honorees

Taste at the Cove

Each year the foundation honors two people, one from the sports industry and the other from the medical field. In the past years Tony Gwynn, Trevor Hoffman, Dr. E. Lee Rice, Sue Lalicker, and countless others have been honored. This year’s honorees are Steve Fisher and Shari Brasher. Steve Fisher, a community legend, is the head coach of the SDSU Basketball Team heading into his 15th year as their coach. Shari Brasher is a Medical Champion. She is the CEO and Executive Director of Fresh Start Surgical Gifts, an organization that transforms the lives of disadvantaged infants, children, and teens with physical deformities through reconstructive surgeries and related healthcare services.

About The Foundation

In 2002 the San Diego Sports Medicine Foundation (SDSMF) was formed with the mission to provide a medical safety net for injured youth who have limited financial needs. The money raised helps children get back to health, sports, and life. Because of SDSMF, thousands of students and youth have received free medical treatment. Over 100 different physicians and medical professionals have volunteered their time to assist the foundation.
