From a bike race across the Coronado Bridge to outdoor food and drink festivals and, of course, a Craft Beer fest, we’ve got everything you need to know to be a social butterfly this month. Baja by the Sea 2015

August 1
500 Kettner Blvd., San Diego 92101. Experience the culinary and cultural heritage of Baja California! Five cities from the region will be showcased: Tijuana, Tecate, Ensenada, Rosarito and Mexicali. Each city will display its main cuisine, hotels, museums, and activities; there will also be a large display of local varietals of wine, beer, and several artistic and musical programs. 12pm-6pm.

La Jolla Music Society SummerFest

August 5-28
MCASD Sherwood Auditorium; 700 Prospect Street, La Jolla 92037. La Jolla Music Society’s SummerFest is a nationally-recognized chamber music festival featuring over 70 world-class artists and ensembles performing concerts. Since its inception in 1986, SummerFest has welcomed over 650 renowned artists and ensembles, four talented artistic directors and nearly a quarter of a million audience members at venues in San Diego and over the airwaves nationwide. $50-$70. 8pm.

August 6 – 20
1008 Wall Street, La Jolla 92037. Enjoy classic movies under the stars and a glass of wine at The Athenaeum‘s outdoor movie series, Flicks on the Bricks 2015, taking place on Thursdays at 7:30pm all through August. Series host and wine expert Barbara Baxter will introduce the wines paired with each movie. Glamour, drama, hot popcorn, and wine – a perfect summer combination. This year’s movie selection includes When Harry Met Sally, Jaws, and more!

Farm to Bay Food & Wine Classic

August 8
1000 Gunpowder Point Drive, Chula Vista 91910. This unforgettable tasting event on San Diego Bay celebrates the sights, sounds and flavors that make San Diego so unique. Farm to Bay is the only local fundraiser that takes place within a national wildlife refuge, set against the beautiful backdrop of San Diego Bay. 10th Annual Cardiff Dog Days of Summer

August 8.
Newcastle Ave & Aberdeen Dr., Cardiff-by-the-Sea 92007. It’s San Diego’s largest dog-centric event! The event is hosted by Cardiff 101 Main Street and is expected to draw 10,000 four-legged friends, their fans and family members. Enjoy a dog parade, several dog contests (there will be prizes!), a diving dogs competition, and a beer garden sponsored by Lost Abbey Brewing Company. After the contests, local bands will be showcased in the beer garden. 9:30am-6pm.

Julian StarFest 2015

August 13 – August 15
Menghini Winery; 1150 Julian Orchards Drive, Julian 92036. StarFest is a three-day festival focused around the field of astronomy in the beautiful mountain town of Julian. The event will be held at Menghini Winery where a large grassy area and plenty of parking can accommodate the anticipated crowd. The festival includes a free public Star Party on Saturday night, astronomy-related exhibition areas, guest speakers, a swap meet, and a raffle with some great astronomy prizes.

¡Latin Food Fest!

August 14 – 17
1000 N Harbor Drive, San Diego 92101. San Diego’s ¡Latin Food Fest! brings together chefs, brands and consumers to provide a variety of culinary experiences from “Havana Nights” chef’s supper club style dinner to “Spirits of the Americas” mixology bash. August 15 – 16

Gourmet Food Truck Festival

August 15
2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar 92014. Bring your appetite for the tastiest food on wheels when the 5th annual Gourmet Food Truck Festival comes to Del Mar. Enjoy a variety of some of the hottest eats in Southern California as 50 food trucks are expected, all in one location, with gourmet chefs serving their eclectic bests at super prices (most items $4-$8). Participating trucks include The Grilled Cheese Truck, Cousins Maine Lobster, The Lime Truck, The Lobsta Truck, and many more! 12pm-6pm.

4th Annual Mira Mesa Festival of Beers

August 22
8575 New Salem St., San Diego 92126. The 4th annual Mira Mesa Festival of Beers will be held at the Mira Mesa Community Park this year. There will be live music, food vendor, and unlimited beer samples – more than 50 beers to choose from! Participating breweries include AleSmith Brewing Company, Bagby Beer Company, Green Flash, Coronado Brewing Company, Lagunitas Brewing Company, Stone, and many others. 1pm-5pm.things to do in san diego

Bike the Bay 2015

August 23
1 Marina Park Way, San Diego 92101. Bike The Bay is a fun ride for people of all levels of riding ability – anyone who wants to experience a scenic bayside ride and also enjoy the only opportunity of the year to ride over the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge! The 25-mile route follows the Bayshore Bikeway and passes through the cities of San Diego, Coronado, Imperial Beach, Chula Vista and National City and finishes at Embarcadero Marina Park South with a festive celebration with food, entertainment and a New Belgium beer garden. 7am-1pm.

San Diego Craft Beer Fest

August 29
Beer aficionados will enjoy the opportunity to sample from more than 100 different brews, including hard-to-find specialty choices to top-rated favorites from the local brewing scene. Admission into the Festival is free with track admission ($6). Each attendee will receive five 7-oz tastings for $20; full-sized beers may also be purchased. DJ’s will be playing music throughout the day, and you’ll also be able to pair your beer with several Gourmet Food Truck offerings. 2pm-5pm.
