Ever since its creation in 1868, Balboa Park San Diego has been home to over 4,500 animals in 900 species, making it the world's largest zoo by species, nine outstanding San Diego museums, art galleries, and one of the largest planetariums and science centers in the United States.

Today, no matter the day or month you visit Balboa Park, there's always something going on including many fantastic Balboa Park events. You can always count on the usual art fairs and cultural events at the Pacific Relations Cottages on Sundays along with many street performers and musicians entertaining Balboa Park visitors throughout the entire year.

During summer, however, there is even more to see and so many things to do in San Diego Balboa Park. For aspiring archeologists, the San Diego Natural History Museum in Balboa Park showcases a Dinosaur Fossil exhibit. This San Diego Natural History Museum is the oldest scientific institution in all of Southern California and a treasured San Diego museum.

If you're in the mood for a little summer romance in San Diego, the City of San Diego sponsors the annual Twilight in the Park summer concerts Balboa Park Spreckels Organ Pavilion Tuesday-Thursday at 6:15 p.m.

Stop by the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park, San Diego's oldest and largest art museum. The San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park hosts many major art exhibits from around the world as well as provides many cultural and educational programs.

San Diego Timkin Museum of Art in Balboa Park is a free museum with an impeccable collection of French, Spanish, Italian Renaissance, Flemish and Russian paintings. At Balboa Park's Timkin Museum of Art you will find artists represented from Rembrandt to John Singleton Copley in this beautiful, modern building. And best of all, it is a free San Diego museum and a fantastic Balboa Park attraction.

And no matter what time of year you visit San Diego, the Balboa Park Gardens are always a unique and romantic attraction.
